This special seax is being offered as an exclusive! The starting wrought iron was blistered by heating and holding at a high temperature in charcoal fines. After absorbing carbon and forming blisters, it was folded and welded onto itself several times to clean and refine. A blank was formed, and a sample taken to test the heat treat. Hardness wasn't achieved, so the blank was once again placed in charcoal fines, and heated to a lower temperature for a longer period of time. The resulting carbon transfer was enough to harden, and the blade was forged to shape, and then brought to a basic finish.
This foundation finish is perfect for anyone who would like to either put an edge on, or do inlay along the spine and refinish. The possibilities are endless, and a great way to use your imagination!
