The fourth pattern welded sword has been completed and is ready to be added to your collection today!
All elements of this sword where crafted in Friendship Wisconsin. The steel was forged welded and the layers manipulated to produce the pattern that you see on the blade. The central core is made up of two groups of two bars, for a total of four bars of twisted pattern welded laminate. The grouping of two bars is exposed along the flat of the blade. The twist on the opposing side matches how the pattern would flow, the super subtle contrast is in a different layered billet being used, and the pattern flowing with a different accent in the twist. The entire core is wrapped in an edge material composed of an 800 layer laminate. The patterned steel was then forged to shape, heat treated, ground and polished, and finally etched in acid to reveal the pattern created early in the process.
The fitting were also hand forged, with a hollow cavity within to reduce unnecessary mass. The wrought iron used as a bas material has impurities which are revealed upon etching in acid as well.
The handle is formed from wood, and is covered in leather. In finishing the scabbard, a flaw was discovered and needs to be remade. The scabbard will be completed by July 14th, if purchased before this date, please allow for a delay in shipping to facilitate the completion of the new scabbard.
